Weather in the Philippines – When Should You Avoid Traveling?

The weather in the Philippines is completely different from what we’re used to back home. The Philippines is a tropical country, and its weather is tropical. Wait, what does tropical weather actually mean? Imagine it’s hot and humid all year round, and suddenly, out of nowhere, in the middle of a sunny and hot day, there’s an hour or two of rain.

Before we start explaining the weather in the Philippines and dividing the country into seasons, it’s important to note that you can travel in the Philippines all year round. No one can truly predict the weather in the Philippines, not even a day in advance (yes, not even Google). Dividing the Philippines into seasons or regions is also not always accurate. Our tip is not to plan your trip according to weather forecasts because it’s purely a matter of luck. As we’ve already stressed — it’s possible and recommended to travel all over the Philippines throughout the year.

Weather Seasons in the Philippines

Generally, the weather in the Philippines is hot and humid all year round, and it’s possible and even recommended to visit anytime. The weather in the Philippines is usually divided into two main seasons: the dry season (November–May) and the wet season (June–October). In reality, this isn’t always so accurate, but people in the Philippines also like to divide the year into seasons.

If you want to play it safe and visit during the driest period, it’s recommended to come between December and April. During these months, you can enjoy plenty of sunshine, perfect beaches, and calm, clear seas.

If you’re looking for more pleasant weather with a sea breeze, December–February are the most comfortable months — there’s less humidity and the temperatures are slightly milder. In the mountain areas, you might even want to wear a light hoodie in the evenings.

June–October are considered the wet months in the Philippines — this is the monsoon season. Even during these months, people still travel, sunbathe, and enjoy themselves. The average temperature stays around 30°C, and between short showers, there are plenty of sunny days too. If you do get caught in the rain, you can always escape for a massage, coffee, or some shopping until it passes.

We're still recovering, but we wanted to thank Michael from Dream Tours Philippines for an amazing trip. Thank you for high-standard hotels — we were really worried about that. I almost never book anything through someone I don't know, especially from overseas. Thanks for the warm and courteous service.
